Using Telemetry Files

In each driver or elite setup package you will now find a telemetry file from the crew chief who built the sets. You can use this to analyze the crew chiefs lap, throttle, brake, steering input, speed and much more; either on it's own or directly compared to your own laps. 

Here is how to do it...

Step 1 - Make sure you have a program that can analyze telemetry files. There are many to choose from but we recommend the Z1 Analyzer as it is robust, easy to use and has a fully functioning demo mode.

Step 2 - Each Driver and Elite setup package will include an .ibt file. This is the raw telemetry file from iRacing. After unzipping your setup download, you will need to move the .ibt file into your telemetry folder
Documents > iRacing > telemetry

Step 3 - Run some laps in iRacing and make sure your telemetry logger is running. You start the logger by using “Alt L” when you enter the car in iRacing.

Step 4 - load the laps in the Z1 analyzer. (you do not have to exit the sim to analyze). Select File > Open Lap and you will see a menu like the one below.

Right click on one of the Crew Chief laps and select "Open as Base Lap". Then open another lap and right click on one of your own laps and select "Open Lap"

Step 5 - Begin analyzing. This is where the fun begins. To get the most out of your session, we'd recommend watching some of the Z1 tutorials.
